IUR Helps Support 300 Head Porters (“Kayayees”) in Ghana

Islamic Ummah Relief over the weekend supported Ink Ghana event with the theme “Care for Kaya Outreach” which featured us providing care items and food to 300 market head porters (“Kayayees”) as they are popularly known in Ghana.

Our support was in two folds. Food and water for all 300 kayayees as well as volunteer support to the organizers.

These head porters leave the northern part of Ghana to the south in search of greener pastures but end up in very poor living conditions amongst many other unfortunate situations.

Pictures taken from the event are below

Ramadan Iftar and food package for orphans, widows and the needy (2021)

Assalamu Alaikum,

Feeding the poor and needy is an act that draws us close to Allah. We earn His forgiveness, mercies and blessings through this act of charity.

As a result, Islamic Ummah Relief (IUR) presents the opportunity to feed poor and needy Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan. This provides a chance to multiply our efforts in seeking Allah’s pleasure, and earn His everlasting Rahma and favor upon us as sponsors/donors as we put smiles on the faces of beneficiaries.

Over the past three years we have been providing food items and iftar to needy Muslim families during the holy month of Ramadan. With support from generous donors like you, we have been able to serve over 5000 needy families so far in Ghana, Nigeria and Niger.

This year, we seek to feed more families in sha Allah. Each food pack costs $25. It is our hope that you will continue  to make this campaign a fruitful one, and help feed poor and needy Muslims during the whole month.

“Whoever gives food to a fasting person with which to break his fast will have a reward equal to his, without it detracting in the slightest from the reward of the fasting person” Al-Tirmidhi

Clean Water For Deprived Communities in Africa

$3,128 of $3,000 raised

Unclean or unsafe water is one of the biggest obstacle to the health of communities in the developing world. Children are especially vulnerable to cholera and diarrhea illnesses, and unsafe water compromises their immune systems as well, making it difficult for them to fight any illness.

The gift of water saves lives, which is a hugely rewardable action. Allah says in the Qur’an, “And whoever saves one [a life], it is as if he had saved all of mankind”. (Qur’an, 5:32)

For every single clean water you donate you save someone’s life, and this is like saving all of mankind.
